How to Change Processor Name in Windows XP

When opening system properties on Windows Xp you’d see processor name and the speed. To be your computer seen sophisticated and progressively you can alter data of processor name and speed in system properties by editing regestry key.
For example you can see below picture. I change computer data with processor celeron become Quad Core by editing registry entry.



Defaut value:



After editing registry key:



Here how:

1. Log in to your registry editor (Start -> Run -> type regedit)
2. Go to the following registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ HARDWARE \ DISCRIPTION \ System \ CentralProcessor \
or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ HARDWARE \ DISCRIPTION \ System \ CentralProcessor \ 0 \
or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ HARDWARE \ DISCRIPTION \ System \ CentralProcessor \ 1 \
3. Find a key with the name “ProcessorNameString”
4. Click the right key and select Modify and change the Value Data to suit you (example: Core 2 Duo).

Now you can see changes in your System Properties (right-click the My Computer icon and select Properties).

Note: this values is not permanent, after computer restart the value back to the default.
