Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), the first Telecom operator in the country to launch 3G services, has announced the launch of 3G (third generation ) Jadoo prepaid services, at a low entry point of Rs 300 for a lifetime connection.
“Since prepaid is the most preferred mode by the customers, this service will meet their requirements, whereby they can avail facilities like making local video calls at Rs 1.8/minute, download data at Rs 3 MB and free video calling by choosing data coupons,” said R S P Sinha, chairman and managing director, MTNL, at the conference.

Added to this attractive feature is another unique promotional offer for the new customers, subscribing to the 3G prepaid/postpaid Jadoo service. MTNL is offering them a “Jodi” 2G prepaid SIM with free video calling facility.
The CMD also believes that with this launch people will be more forthcoming. They can plan the usage according to their budget and can keep a track of the amount of expenditure incurred as an user.
Having asked about the profitability effect of this plan, Sinha said, “We were last to get the 2G licence. Even then the market that we captured was more than the other operators to a considerable extent. Undoubtedly I am expecting a huge bottom line this time.”
So far, almost 90 per cent of Delhi, Mumbai, Gurgaon and parts of Faridabad have been enlisted under the network coverage area of this service.
