The Pustak website is bare minimum that is required to get the service going, all you have to do is key in few of your personal details, create a username, provide an email-id and you have an account registered for the service. Then you can spend all your time criss-crossing one of the largest Indian book collection online, mind you they have 12 million titles, wow 12 million sounds a lot to me. One can search for books based on author, title and ISBN number. And yeah! you can find a host of categories to narrow down your search, I can’t really list all them here, but some of them are arts & photography, business & investing, literature & fiction, non-fiction, politics, science, textbooks, and teens for starters.
Curious to find out about the collection, I just tried few searches. A search for “Atlas Shurgged” popped out a mind boggling 169 results with all types of books covered, be it paperback, anniversary edition, audio cd, or be it hardcover and more. I even searched for “Slumdog Millionaire”, the current rage and got 7 results including audio download and even a movie review. I guess, they are constantly updating the database with the latest entries.
One of the best and new features that I found was the free international shipping. Now you can order books available only in US without having to pay the $10-$15 shipping fees, it sounds cool, imagine if you are ordering a couple of rare books, how much are you going to save on the shipping costs? some decent amount for sure. Also, very soon Pustak is going to increase their coverage of Indian book database, stay tuned to an expansion of their database in near future.
I really don’t have experience of ordering books at Pustak, but if some of you have already tried out this service, we would like to know more about what you bought, how was the service and overall quality of Pustak or any feedback that the owners of Pustak can incorporate to make the service better.
So book-worms! I mean book-enthusiasts, hop on to Pustak if you can’t get your favorite books elswhere and do let us know your feedback.
