In a move which could stir up some controversy, Bharat Matrimony, one of India’s leading matrimonial site, has launched a facial recognition feature to help you search for a life partner who looks like your favorite film actor/actress.
You can either choose from a pre-selected set of photos of Bollywood actors or actresses or upload photos of someone you want searched on the Bharat Matrimony database. The “Facial Search” engine, which they describe as path breaking, will display the profiles of members with similar facial characteristics.

This new feature, apart from being unquestionably creepy, could also become a privacy nightmare, as the facial search could allow you to locate any random person you find a picture of, and get very personal details about them. It is unclear if everyone is automatically opted-in, and if there is a way to opt-out at all.
