Microsoft Senior Vice President Bill Veghte said that in order to meet this release date, development of Windows 7 will wrap up by the middle or end of next month.
Last month, Microsoft made the Windows 7 release candidate available for download. "The feedback from the release candidate has been good", says Bill Veghte.
It looks like OEM's are also ready to go as well. "We're locked and loaded for the launch. The quality of code is just absolutely stellar.", says Phil McKinney, CTO of HP's computer unit. Previously, Acer said that Windows 7 will be available on October 23rd, one day later than the confirmed release date.
We're still waiting for pricing details to be announced, which is expected later this month. Starting June 28th, users who buy a new PC with Windows Vista, will receive a free upgrade to Windows 7. Students may also be able to get Windows 7 at a discount or even for free.
