ADVERTISEMENTS

Have you ever thought what will happen to your blog(s) if by chance you fall sick or something else happens to you? We really don’t like to think about it, but the truth is that we are not permanent creatures on earth and stuff happens.

Most of the time when somebody asks “what if something happens?” question to fellow bloggers, many of them don’t have a good plan in such situations, whereas others don’t want to even consider that there will ever be a time when they can’t blog.

You must think that if something bad happens to you;Who would alert my readers and clients? What would happen to my blog if I am no longer around? Not attractive possibilities, but certainly something to think about.

Appointing a Blog Guardian!

What I have done is that I have given my log in info to my brother and 1-2 friends from school who can add a simple post if something happens to me.

Also I have made a CD in which I am saving screenshots of Firefox Saved Passwords of many sites which is locked with a password.

So you should also make sure that there is someone who can do little bit thing in your absence. If there is no one who have knowledge about blogging then go teach him few simple things.

Sell or Pass on the Blog?

It’s not enough to have someone alert your readers that you won’t be blogging for a while, or ever again. You’re going to have to decide if you want to appoint a successor or sell your blogs. If it’s a matter of illness or injury, possibly you may just want someone trustworthy to fill in your blog in your absence.

Choose that person who feels the same way about blogging and your niche like you. Such that your readers will be exposed to the same passion.

Now, what if you’re no longer wish to blog or you (die)? What will happen to your blogs then? Will you leave them to alone? If you care about your blogs the way I do, you’ll want to either appoint a successor or sell it to places like sitepoint marketplace.

No One Wants to Think About It

Actually No one ever wants to discuss the “what if something happens” scene. Many of us would love to live forever or at least spend the remainder of our lives accident and illness free like I wish to. But that’s not the way of life. Since you are not a god there is 99% chances that something might happen bad in your life for once or many times.

It’s best to be prepared rather than being sorry, no matter how unattractive the thought is.

Do tell me if you have any interesting plan of yours for your blog in your absense.
