ADVERTISEMENTS
Nintendo has done a lot of footwork in the last few years making itself visible to a broader market, and now we have hard numbers to prove the positive impact on its reputation. Forbes reports on a new list from the Reputation Institute (via Kotaku), and the company appeared at number six in the top 200 companies. It received a Pulse score of 81.63, and is the first time it's appeared on the Reputation list. Nintendo also happens to be the only games-exclusive company located anywhere in the top 200, and is surrounded by more conventional goods manufacturers like Ikea and Kraft Foods.
By way of comparison, Microsoft hit number 30 on the list with a score of 78.05, up a respectable 7.53 points from the previous year. Sony was number 126 with 72.21 points, down 5.78 from the previous year. It's important to keep in mind, though, that the comparison of the two company reputations to Nintendo isn't perfect. Both of them focus on a wide range of products like Microsoft's Windows and Sony's televisions. This makes it impossible to tell how Microsoft's Xbox division or Sony Computer Entertainment by themselves would compete with Nintendo's good reputation.
